The Promise of God
Can you really know where you will spend Eternity? Can you know 100% for sure? The Bible says, “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end” (Jeremiah 29:11). The simple truth is that God wants you to know, and you can know. I John 5:13 says “These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life…”. The answer to this question is found in the Bible.
The Problem of Sin
Sin is the root of every issue mankind faces, and it has separated us from God. Wars, inequity, racism, famines, sickness, greed, hatred, and addictions, all abound in the world because sin abounds. The Bible tells us that “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23)
The Penalty for Sin
The Bible says, “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” (Romans 6:23). The only thing that sin can produce is death. God, who is Holy, must judge sin, and all those who commit sin, or else He would not be Holy. Under God’s holy law, the penalty for sin is death, both temporal (when we physically die), and Eternal (eternal separation from God). Under God’s perfect Law we are all condemned.
The Payment for Sin
When God created mankind with the ability to choose, He knew that man would sin. Before the world was created, He provided a solution: God would become flesh, and that person is Jesus Christ. God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. He gave himself for our sins, that He might deliver us from this present evil world. Christ died for our sins, and on the third day rose from the dead. No one else has ever done that, and no one ever will. (John 1:29, I Timothy 3:16, Romans 5:8, 12, Galatians 1:4).
The Path to Redemption
The path to redemption is not by baptism, church membership, good works, or any other effort you could make. It does require that you turn to God (repent) and believe God’s Word: Are you are willing to accept your place as a sinner; Do you understand you are under the condemnation of God; Do you believe that Jesus died in your place, was buried, and rose again the third day; Do you believe He wants to redeem you?
The Promise Is Real
As someone who has personally experienced the eternal forgiveness of sin, and come to know the Lord Jesus Christ myself, I can tell you with absolute certainty that this promise is real. God is truth, and He will always keep His word. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. If you believe these things, then call on Him today. Confess to Him that you know you are a sinner, that you know He died for you, and that He lives today. Ask Him to forgive you and save you. (Romans 10:9)
